CauseMatch Pay (CMpay) ensures that all donations and payouts respect Jewish law while maintaining smooth and reliable processing. No payments are charged or transferred on the Sabbath or Jewish holidays. Instead, donations made during these times are processed automatically on the next available weekday morning.
These rules apply to:
One-time donations
Monthly (recurring) donations
Payouts to your organization’s account
When a donor gives through CauseMatch Pay:
The donation appears immediately on your campaign page.
The donor receives their thank-you email right away.
The payment is usually processed within minutes.
If the donation happens during the Sabbath or a Jewish holiday, it will still appear instantly on your campaign page, but the actual payment will be completed on the next non-restricted weekday morning (based on Jerusalem time).
Example: A donor gives on Friday night after sundown — the donation will be processed on Sunday morning. You’ll see it in your dashboard right away, but funds will be transferred later.Recurring donations follow a fixed monthly schedule that automatically avoids restricted days.
The first donation determines the schedule for future payments.
Payments happen on weekdays only (Monday–Friday).
No monthly payment is ever scheduled later than the 27th of the month.
If a payment date falls on a Sabbath or holiday, it moves automatically to the next available weekday.
Recurring donations are processed each morning during a short payment window (starting at 08:00 UTC).
Example: A donor starts a recurring gift on Friday night, October 31, 2025 (after sundown). The first payment will be processed on Sunday morning, November 2, 2025. Future payments will then be scheduled on the 2nd of each month.Payouts from CauseMatch Pay to your bank account are also adjusted for restricted days.
Payouts are normally scheduled on or near the 1st and 15th of each month.
If either date falls on the Sabbath or a holiday, the payout will move automatically to the next available weekday.
The following holidays are considered restricted and will pause all donation processing and payouts:
| Holiday | Duration |
|---|---|
| Rosh Hashanah | 2 days |
| Yom Kippur | 1 day |
| Sukkot – First Days | 2 days |
| Sukkot – Last Days | 2 days |
| Passover – First Days | 2 days |
| Passover – Last Days | 2 days |
| Shavuot | 2 days |
Not restricted: Chanukah, Tu Bishvat, Purim, Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron, Yom HaAtzmaut, Lag Ba’Omer, and the fast days (including Tisha B’Av) do not affect payment processing.Restricted periods begin at sundown in Jerusalem, following Rabbinic guidance.
Some holidays that connect to the Sabbath can result in three consecutive restricted days.
Example: A Thursday–Friday holiday will delay processing until Sunday morning.
Delayed donations are always processed in the same calendar month whenever possible.
