How to Add and Track Pledges

A pledge allows your supporters to commit to donating at a later time, giving you valuable insight into your campaign's potential impact. By tracking pledges alongside actual donations, you can plan more effectively, follow up with supporters, and ensure that every contribution plays a role in achieving your goals. To make this process seamless, CauseMatch now offers the ability to add and track pledges directly within the platform, empowering you to keep your campaigns organized and successful from start to finish.

How to add a pledge:

Step 1: Navigate to Offline Donations
  1. Log in to your dashboard.
  2. From the main menu, go to Donations and select Offline Donations.

Step 2: Add a New Offline Donation
  1. Click on Add New Offline Donation.
  2. From the dropdown menu, select the campaign you want to associate the donation with.



Step 3: Enter Pledge Details
  1. A form will appear where you can enter donation details.
  2. In the form, locate the radio button labeled Offline Donation and Pledge. Select Pledge.

Step 4: Set the Pledge Status
  1. Once you select Pledge, an additional column labeled Pledge Status will appear.
  2. Choose one of the following options from the dropdown:
    • Awaiting
    • Partially Received
    • Received


Step 5: Configure Additional Details (If Applicable)
  1. If you select Awaiting or Partially Received as the pledge status, two additional fields will appear:
    • Pledge Due Date: Enter the date the donor has promised to fulfill their pledge.
    • Reminder Settings: Check the box to enable a reminder for you, then select the date for the reminder.



Automated Reminder Email: 


When the reminder date arrives, an automated email will be sent to YOU with the following details:

How to Track the Status of a Pledge

You can track the status of your pledges by exporting the donations report. The data related to the pledge status will be available in columns named "PLEDGE STATUS", "PLEDGE DUE DATE", "PLEDGE CLIENT REMINDER DATE". Please refer to this article to learn how to download an export of donations.

By following these steps, you can effectively manage and track pledges, ensuring a smooth experience for both your team and your donors.

How to Edit a Pledge Status

If a pledge has already been added and you need to update its status:

  1. Navigate to the Donations Section

    • Go to Donations > All Donations in your dashboard.

    • Use the search option to locate the specific pledge.

  2. Update the Pledge Status

    • Click on the edit button/pencil icon to open the Donation Edit Option.

    • Locate the Pledge Status dropdown and select one of the following:
      • Awaiting - If the donor has not made the payment yet.
      • Partially Received - If the donor has made a partial payment.
      • Received - If the pledge has been fully paid.
    • Click on Pledge Due Date to choose the expected date when the full pledge should be received.


  3. Update the Reminder for the pledge: If you select Partially Received or Awaiting, you have the option to set a reminder for future follow-ups.

    • Check the Send me a reminder box.
    • Click on Reminder Due Date and select the date and time for the reminder.
