How to Manage Ambassadors on Your Peer-to-Peer Page

How to Manage Ambassadors on Your Peer-to-Peer Page

Overview

The Peer-to-Peer section of the CauseMatch Dashboard lets you manage individual ambassadors (people or teams who run their own personal fundraising pages within your campaign). From one screen you can add new ambassadors, update their profile and creative content, control their visibility, and pin top performers so they appear prominently on your campaign page.

NotesNote on naming: The button labels and column headers in your dashboard reflect the layer name configured for your campaign, so you may see labels like “Add Team” or “Add Fundraiser” instead of “Add Ambassador”. The steps in this article are the same regardless of the label used.

Who Can Use This?

This feature is available to users with the Client or Client Admin role.

Before You Begin

  • Your campaign has been created (see: Creating a New Campaign)

  • Peer-to-peer layers have been set up on your campaign by a Client Admin or CauseMatch admin. You must have at least one layer configured before you can add ambassadors.

Step-by-Step Guide

To access the Peer-to-Peer dashboard:

  1. Log in to your CauseMatch Dashboard

  2. In the left navigation menu, click Campaigns

  3. Click Peer to Peer

The Peer-to-Peer dashboard opens on the ambassador list. If your account manages multiple campaigns, select the relevant campaign from the
campaign dropdown at the top.

The Ambassador List

The ambassador list displays all ambassadors configured for the selected campaign. Each row shows:

  • Published: a toggle indicating whether the ambassador’s personal page is visible on the campaign

  • ID: the ambassador’s internal identifier

  • Name: the ambassador’s display name

  • Owner: the user account linked to this ambassador (if any)

  • Goal: the ambassador’s individual fundraising target

  • Amount Raised: total donations received through this ambassador’s page

  • Progress: a visual indicator showing how close the ambassador is to their goal

  • Email: the ambassador’s primary email address

  • Method: the messaging method used to contact this ambassador

  • Message Status: the delivery status of the last message sent to this ambassador

  • Actions: edit, view live page, export donors, pin/unpin, and delete

NotesNote: Additional columns such as Number of Donors are available but hidden by default. Use the column visibility control (top-right of the grid) to show or hide columns as needed.

Use the Layer selector tabs (if your campaign has multiple layers) to filter the list by layer. Use the search field to find a specific ambassador by name.

Section 1 — Adding an Ambassador

  1. Make sure the correct campaign is selected in the campaign dropdown

  2. Select the layer you want to add the ambassador to using the layer selector tabs

  3. Click the Add [layer name] button in the top-right action bar

  4. The ambassador editor dialog opens. Fill in the details across the tabs (see Sections 2 and 3 below).

  5. Click Save to add the ambassador

To add multiple ambassadors in one session, click Save and add another instead of Save. This saves the current ambassador and immediately opens a blank form for the next one.

Section 2 — The Ambassador Editor: Personal Information Tab

To open the ambassador editor for an existing ambassador:
  1. In the ambassador list, find the ambassador you want to edit
  2. Click the Edit (pencil) icon in the Actions column

The editor opens as a dialog with three tabs: Personal Information, Creative, and Custom fields.

Fill in the fields under Personal Information:

Contact details:

  • Emails — add one or more email addresses for this ambassador. These are used for donation notifications.

  • Name * — the ambassador’s display name as it appears on the campaign page (required)

  • Phone Numbers — add one or more phone numbers (optional)

Fundraising goal:

  • Goal * — enter the ambassador’s individual fundraising target. Use the currency selector on the left of the field to set the currency.

  • Automatically Calculate & Update Goal — if your campaign uses nested layers, this toggle automatically calculates and updates the ambassador’s goal based on the goals of their child items. Only appears when the layer has child layers.

  • Enable bonus goal — toggle on to add a secondary fundraising milestone for this ambassador. When enabled, a Bonus Goal * field appears alongside the main goal.

Page details:

  • Address — the ambassador’s address (optional)

  • Page Link — a custom URL slug for this ambassador’s personal page. The full URL is shown as a preview. Choose a short, memorable slug.

  • Personal Description (shown on personal tile) — a short description that appears on the ambassador’s tile in the campaign’s ambassador grid

Published status:

  • Published / Unpublished toggle — controls whether this ambassador’s page is visible to donors. Toggle on to make the page live; toggle off to hide it. You can also control this from the Published toggle directly in the ambassador list (see Section 5 below).

Donation notifications:

  • Enable email notification — when toggled on, this ambassador receives an email each time a donation is made to their page

NotesNote: Only the email notification toggle is available to Client and Client Admin users. An SMS notification option exists but is only visible to CauseMatch admins.

Logo:

  • Upload a Logo image for this ambassador (recommended: 180 × 180px). The logo appears alongside the ambassador’s information on the campaign page.

When you are done, click Save (for a new ambassador) or Update (for an existing ambassador). To create another new ambassador immediately after saving, click Save and add another instead.

Section 3 — The Ambassador Editor: Creative Tab

The Creative tab lets you customize the visual content of the ambassador’s personal page, including their header banner, body image, and additional text sections.

Click the Creative tab at the top of the editor dialog.

Header banner:

  • Toggle on Custom Header Banner and Video to customize the header area of this ambassador’s page

  • To use a video instead of an image: check Embedded video (Vimeo, YouTube), then enter the Video URL, Width, and Height. An optional Video Cover Image can also be uploaded (shown before the video plays).

  • To use a header image: upload a banner image (recommended: 1366 × 360px)

  • Toggle on Add mobile version of header image to upload a separate mobile banner (recommended: 540 × 480px).

Text sections:

  • Toggle on Text under the header banner to add a rich text block that appears directly below the header image

  • Toggle on Text above the body image to add text above the body banner

Body image:

  • Toggle on Custom Body Banner to add a secondary image to the page

  • Upload a Body image (recommended: 1366 × 200px)

  • Toggle on Add mobile version of body image to upload a separate mobile version (recommended: 540 × 480px)

  • Toggle on Text under the body image to add a rich text block below the body banner

About section:

  • Toggle on About campaign to add a custom about text block to the ambassador’s page.

Click Update (or Save if creating new) when done.

Section 4 — The Ambassador Editor: Custom Fields Tab

The Custom fields tab shows any additional fields that your campaign has been configured to collect from ambassadors. If no custom fields have been set up for your campaign, this tab will display “None”.

Fill in the fields as required and click Update (or Save if creating new).

Section 5 — Publishing and Unpublishing an Ambassador

An ambassador’s page is only visible to donors when it is published. You can control the published status in two ways:

From the ambassador list:

Toggle the Published switch in the row directly. It updates immediately without needing to open the editor.

From the ambassador editor:

  1. Open the ambassador editor (click the Edit pencil icon)

  2. On the Personal Information tab, find the Published / Unpublished toggle

  3. Toggle it on to publish, or off to unpublish

  4. Click Update.

Section 6 — Pinning an Ambassador to the Top

Pinning an ambassador marks them as featured and moves their tile to the top of the ambassador section on the campaign page.

  1. In the ambassador list, locate the ambassador you want to feature

  2. In the Actions column, click the Pin (bookmark outline) icon

  3. The icon changes to a filled bookmark. The ambassador is now pinned.

To unpin, click the Unpin (filled bookmark) icon in the same column.

NotesTip: Use pinning to highlight your top ambassadors or recently joined teams. Pinned ambassadors appear first on the campaign page, making them more visible to donors.

Section 7 — Importing, Exporting, and Bulk Actions

Importing ambassadors (CSV):

To add multiple ambassadors at once using a CSV file:

  1. Click the Import button in the top-right action bar

  2. Follow the upload dialog to select and upload your CSV file

Exporting the ambassador list:

To export all ambassadors for the selected layer, click the Export button in the top-right action bar. This downloads the full ambassador list as a CSV file.

To export the donor list for a specific ambassador, click the Donors (export CSV) icon in that ambassador’s Actions column. This downloads all donors who gave through that ambassador’s page.

Bulk deleting ambassadors:

  1. Select ambassadors using the checkboxes on the left of each row

  2. A bulk actions bar appears at the top of the grid. Click Delete and confirm.

Sending messages to ambassadors:

If your account has Connect messaging enabled, you can send bulk messages to selected ambassadors:

  1. Select one or more ambassadors using the checkboxes

  2. Click the Send message button in the bulk actions bar

Editing the email template:

To update the default email template sent to ambassadors, click the Edit email template button in the action bar above the list.

NotesTip: When editing the email template or sending emails to ambassadors, leave the From address field blank. Leaving it blank improves email deliverability. If you have a From address set and your emails are not being delivered or are failing, try removing the From address and resending. This often resolves the issue.

Section 8 — Ambassador Compare

The Ambassador Compare tab lets you compare ambassador performance across two campaigns side by side. Use it to track which ambassadors returned from a previous campaign, which are new, and how their fundraising changed between the two.

To access it, click the Ambassador Compare tab at the top of the Peer-to-Peer screen.

Selecting campaigns to compare:

Use the Previous Campaign and New Campaign dropdowns to select the two campaigns you want to compare. Once both are selected, summary stats and the comparison table load automatically.

  • Send Previous Donors List (Ambassadors in Both): sends the selected ambassadors a list of their donors from the previous campaign.

  • Send Message (Only in Previous / Only in New): sends a message to the selected ambassadors.

  • Export Inactive Ambassador Donors (Only in Previous): downloads a report of donors linked to ambassadors who did not return for the new campaign, so you can reach out to them directly.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Publish promptly. New ambassadors are unpublished by default. Remember to toggle them on once they have reviewed and confirmed their page details.

  • Set individual goals. Having a goal on each ambassador page shows donors a progress bar and motivates giving at the team level. The individual goal does not need to match the campaign total.

  • Use the Creative tab for high-performing ambassadors. A custom banner image or personal story significantly increases donor engagement on individual ambassador pages.

  • Pin your strongest ambassadors. Donors who land on the campaign page will see pinned ambassadors first. Update pinned ambassadors regularly to keep the campaign feeling active and competitive.

  • Leave the From address blank when sending emails. Keeping the From address empty improves email deliverability. If ambassador emails are not being delivered, check whether a From address has been entered and try removing it.

  • Export before bulk changes. Before bulk-deleting or importing a large batch, export the current ambassador list as a backup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why can’t I see the Peer-to-Peer section in my left navigation? A: The Peer-to-Peer section is only available when at least one campaign with peer-to-peer layers has been configured for your account. If you don’t see it, contact your CauseMatch account manager to confirm that layers have been set up.

Q: The “Add [layer name]” button is not visible. Why? A: Make sure a campaign is selected from the campaign dropdown and that a layer tab is active. If no layers have been configured on the campaign, the button will not appear.

Q: An ambassador’s page is published but donors can’t see it. Why? A: The ambassador’s page is part of your campaign, so the campaign itself must also be approved and live. Check that your campaign is published and not in draft or pending review status.

Q: Can I change an ambassador’s page URL after it has been created? A: Yes. Open the ambassador editor, update the Page Link field on the Personal Information tab, and click Update. Be aware that if the old URL has already been shared, existing links will break.

Q: What is the difference between “Save” and “Save and add another”? A: Save saves the new ambassador and closes the editor. Save and add another saves the new ambassador and immediately opens a fresh blank form, which is useful when setting up many ambassadors at once. These buttons appear only when creating a new ambassador. When editing an existing ambassador, the button is labelled Update.

Q: What does pinning an ambassador do? A: Pinning marks an ambassador as featured and moves their tile to the top of the ambassador section on the live campaign page. It does not affect donations or data. It only changes their display position.

Q: Can I send messages to specific ambassadors rather than all of them? A: Yes. Select only the ambassadors you want to message using their checkboxes, then use the bulk message action in the bar that appears. Only the selected ambassadors will receive the message.

Q: Can an ambassador receive email notifications when someone donates to their page? A: Yes. In the ambassador editor, go to the Personal Information tab and toggle on Enable email notification under the Donation Notifications section. Make sure a valid email address is entered in the Emails field.

Q: My ambassador emails are not being delivered. What should I check? A: If you have a From address set in the email template, try removing it and resending. Leaving the From address blank improves deliverability and often resolves delivery failures.
