Checkout Tipping and Dynamic Tipping
CauseMatch has a new feature called Tipping. Tipping provides donors the option to cover the cost of the credit card processing and platform fees that would otherwise be incurred by you, the nonprofit.
When enabled, the tipping text reads: “Yes; I’d like to cover the platform fees so that the maximum amount of donations go to charity” next to a checkbox. When a donor selects the checkbox they receive a pop-up that allows them to choose to tip 3%, 5%, 8% and 10% of their donation or select “0” for no tipping. This tipping percentage is then added to their total donation, like it would be in a restaurant.
For maximum transparency, the checkout page then updates to reflect their donation amount, their tip amount, and then the total they will be donating followed by the “Continue” button.
At the bottom, before donors click “Donate,” they have the option to unselect the box that says “Yes; I’d like to cover the platform fees so the maximum amount of donations go to charity.” If they unselect the tipping checkbox, they are presented with the opportunity to change the tipping amount to 0 or another percentage. If they decide to tip 5% (the default amount), the page will say that the donation was $18, the tip was $0.90, and the total amount is $18.90.
The default tipping is 5% and the options are: 0%, 3%, 5%, 8%, and 10%. These tipping options and the text are customizable.
Dynamic Tipping Feature
Dynamic Tipping has been implemented which is a sophisticated tipping feature that includes tiered tipping options based on donor contribution amounts and comes with an option to enable or disable the feature from the campaign backend.
Tipping Tiers:
Large Donors (amounts over 10,000):
Default Tip: 5%
Other Options: 10%, 3%, and custom tip percentage.
Medium Donors (amounts up to 10,000):
Default Tip: 15%
Other Options: 12%, 10%, and custom tip percentage
With the dynamic tipping enabled, when a donor reaches the checkout page, the tipping option will be checked on by default.
Important Notes:
If Dynamic Tipping is enabled, the default tipping percentage and options cannot be changed or edited.
Donors have the flexibility to opt out of the tip or choose a different tip amount.
