NEW: CauseMatch Ad Journals

NEW: CauseMatch Ad Journals

Overview

Ad Journals are powerful fundraising tools because they offer supporters a meaningful way to contribute while gaining visibility and recognition within the community. They provide nonprofits with a low-cost, high-impact channel to engage local businesses, honor key supporters, and showcase community partnerships. Additionally, ad journals build goodwill among donors by publicly acknowledging their generosity, ultimately deepening relationships and encouraging future contributions.

Our Virtual Ad Journal feature allows donors making qualifying donations to leave personalized entries that are displayed publicly on the campaign’s Journal page. This feature can be enabled and configured only by Admin users. Clients can control Journal entries via the donation edit form.

The Virtual Journal Page

The Virtual Journal Page will have the following URL Format:

causematch.com/campaign-page/journal

  • The Journal page will display entries containing:

    • Name to display

    • The Message

    • Optional image (if added by Admin/Client later)

    • Tier label (e.g., Platinum, Gold, Silver)

      • Name, message, and tier label will also be available in exports.

  • Entries are grouped by Journal Tiers.

  • Tiers are sorted by their minimum donation amount in descending order.

  • Within tiers, entries are sorted by donation amount (converted to campaign base currency) in descending order.

  • One slide per donor for all tiers.

  • Search functionality is available and users can search by name. Minimum or 2 characters need to be given as search input in order for the search to work.

  • Tier names and logos are page-specific, taken from the specific campaign page's configuration.

  • The page updates automatically when entries are added, updated, or deleted.

  • Buffer of 10 seconds applied before updates appear live.

How to Set-up

1. Enable ‘Ad Journal’ from the ‘Checkout’ tab in the Campaign backend.

2. Once enabled, three giving level tiers will be automatically added so you can start editing. Most clients match these to their giving level perks/sponsorship items on the campaign page.

  • You can add as many tiers as you would like.

  • It includes a Title, Description, Minimum qualifying amount and color.

  • The tier/giving level title will appear in the top right corner of the Ad Journal Page

  • The color will show on the Journal Page Tier Title.

What your Donor Sees

On a campaign with Virtual Journal enabled, donors making live donations that qualify for the Journal tier are presented with a Journal Entry form on the Thank You page.
From here, the donor can either submit the message or if they don't wish to add a message, they can opt out by clicking on the ‘I prefer not to add a message’ button.
If the donor adds a message and successfully submits it, the following screen will be shown:

From here the donor will be notified that the Message has been added to the Journal and also they will have the option to view the Journal by clicking on the ‘View Journal’ button.

Embedding Virtual Journal on Campaign Page

Admin users can now embed the Virtual Journal directly into the campaign page using the CKEditor’s “Insert Media Embed” field.

Things to be Noted

  • If no data is available, the Journal will redirect to the campaign page with a message. However, when embedded, that message may remain uncleared.

  • The Preview under the ‘Design’ tab will not display the Journal when embedded.

  • Width adjustments for the embedded Journal follow the same logic as other media embeds.

  • The embed is page-specific, each campaign page can have its own Journal.

  • There may be a slight delay (typically 2-3 seconds, often less than 2) between loading the full Journal page and the embedded version.

How to Edit Journal Entries

From the Donation Edit Form, the following data related to Journal can be updated:

  • Journal Tier

  • Journal Name

  • Journal Message

  • Journal Image

Admins & Clients will be able to control journal entries via the donation edit form. From the Donation Edit Form users can do the following:

  • Create a Journal Entry: By selecting a Journal Tier and providing at least a Name for any existing donation.

  • Delete a Journal Entry: By setting the Journal Tier to "None" will delete the journal entry for that donation or donation set as a whole (in case donation is part of a set of multiple donations to layer items)

  • Change Tier: Move an entry between tiers by changing the Journal Tier value.

  • In case a donation is deleted (or all donations of a set is deleted in case of layer item donations)  the journal entry associated with it will also be deleted.

  • For layer item donations (donations to mutiple layer-items): Changes apply to the entire set. Changes made to one donation will automatically change the other, because it's a single entry tied to multiple donations.

How To Export Entries

New columns namely, “JOURNAL NAME” , “JOURNAL MESSAGE”, “DONATION TIER NAME” are added to all donations export which will have the respective data.
