Email/Whatsapp/SMS Subscribe & Unsubscribe Feature

Unsubscribe/Subscribe functionality


We have added the Unsubscribe option that allows users to opt-out of receiving Emails as well as SMS/WhatsApp messages from our platform. 

Note: The Unsubscribe functionality works only for ‘Donor Connect’ and ‘Ambassador Connect’ Emails or SMS/WhatsApp messages. However, we have added an ‘Unsubscribe’ option to all emails (including Match My Gift, Personal Fundraising Link, Donation Notifications etc..) that are leaving CauseMatch according to the latest MailGun guidelines and even if the user tries to click and unsubscribe from these above mentioned emails the user will still be receiving them.


  1. Email Unsubscribe: Users can click the 'unsubscribe' link in the Donor-connect/Ambassador-connect email to stop receiving future emails from our platform.

  1. SMS Unsubscribe: Users can reply with a specific keyword (e.g., ‘STOP',’Stop') to the SMS/WhatsApp message to opt-out of future SMS communications. The keywords that can be used to unsusbcribe SMS or WhatsApp are given at the bottom.

How to Unsubscribe?

Email

Step 1: Open the email received from our platform through donor connect or ambassador connect.


Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of the email and click on the 'unsubscribe here' link as shown below.




Step 3: You will be redirected to a confirmation page. Click 'Unsubscribe' to complete the unsubscription process.



Step 4: Next you will be presented with the following message that indicates that the user is unsubscribed successfully.




WhatsApp/SMS


Step 1: The user can reply to the donor-connect/ambassador-connect WhatsApp/SMS message from our platform with the keyword ‘STOP'/’Stop'. These keywords are not case-sensitive.

Note : Refer to the Keywords section at the bottom to opt out of SMS or WhatsApp messages.


Step 2: The user will receive a confirmation message  from WhatsApp/SMS indicating that you have successfully unsubscribed.


Step 3: The user can resubscribe to WhatsApp/SMS messages by sending ‘START’/Start'.




Re-subscription Process

If the user wants to re-subscribe to our Emails or WhatsApp/SMS, please follow these steps:


  • For Email: For Email re-subscription, you can reach out to us at support@causematch.com and we can help you with the re-subscription.


  • For SMS/WhatsApp: Send a keyword (e.g., ‘START'/’Start') to the WhatsAPP/SMS number to opt back in.


Keywords & Response Messages


Opt-Out Keywords: The following words can be used to opt out of subscription -

cancel, end, quit, remove, stop, stopall, unsubscribe.


Confirmation message once unsubscribed: You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply "START" to re-subscribe. If you have any questions or need support, please contact support@causematch.com.


Opt-In Keywords: The following words can be used to opt in for  subscription - resubscribe, start, unstop, yes.

Confirmation message once re-subscribed: You have successfully been re-subscribed to messages from this number. Reply "HELP" for help. Reply "STOP" to unsubscribe. Msg&Data Rates May Apply.


Help Keywords: The following keywords can be used for support such as help, info, support.

Message for support: Reply "STOP" to unsubscribe. This number is used by CauseMatch to send information on behalf of nonprofit organisations. If you need any assistance or have questions about the service please email support@causematch.com. Msg&Data Rates May Apply.



Additional Things To Know


  1. For Unsubscribed users, an icon will be shown next to those particular entries in the Donation Analytics/Peer-to-Peer dashboard. For example, when you go to the Peer to Peer dashboard and check for the ambassador and if the ambassador has unsubscribed Ambassador connect emails, then an icon will be shown as given below.




  2. The icon when hovered will show which service has been unsubscribed. 
      If Email alone is unsubscribed, then the text Unsubscribed from Email’ will be shown.



    If SMS/WhatsApp is unsubscribed, then the following text will be shown : ‘Unsubscribed from SMS, Whatsapp’.



    If both Email and SMS/WhatsApp is unsubscribed, the particular entry will not be selectable to send emails or SMS/WhatsApp messages and the icon next to that entry would show the following text ‘Unsubscribed from Email, Sms, Whatsapp’.




  3. When a service(Email/SMS/WhatsApp) is unsubscribed for a particular donor/ambassador, then that service will be hidden in the ‘Send message’ popup. For example, if Email service is unsubscribed, then the Email tab inside of the ‘Send message’ popup will be hidden. Similarly if SMS/WhatsApp service is unsubscribed, then SMS/WhatsApp tab will be hidden and Email will be accessible.



  4. When trying to send bulk Emails or bulk SMS/WhatsApp messages, if any of the selected ambassadors or donors have an unsubscribed service then the following message will be shown : ‘You have selected X recipients that have unsubscribed from the list



  5. For Emails, the Unsubscribe feature is specific to a campaign.  If a user unsubscribes from Email  messages from a campaign, he/she can still receive the Email messages from a different campaign.

  6. Email unsubscribe for donor connect and ambassador connect are independent. If the user with an Email is unsubscribed from donor connect can still receive ambassador connect email.

  7. The SMS/WhatsApp service is applicable for the whole platform. If a user unsubscribes an SMS/Whatsapp message from a campaign then the user will not be receiving the SMS/WhatsApp messages from any of the campaigns across the platform.

  8. When there are multiple emails assigned to an ambassador page, and any of them is unsubscribed, then the warning message for the unsubscribed recipient will not be shown.

  9. The ‘unsubscribe here’ link in the email when clicked multiple times, will show the same confirmation message each time and this is expected eventhough the email is unsubscribed already.
